Armidale City Womens Bowling Club

No bowls were played on Tuesday September 25, 2018 due to the inclement weather.   However, on Wednesday September 26, 2018, four teams of bowlers travelled to the Kootingal Women’s Bowling Club to attend their President’s day and 60th Birthday celebrations.   Kootingal President Mrs Marie O’Connor welcomed 48 bowlers from clubs both within and outside the District filling both greens to capacity.   The weather was perfect for the day after the heavy fog.  After a delicious morning tea the cards were called and bowlers enjoyed one game of triples with 18 ends preceded by a spider.

After the game the bowlers enjoyed the hot roast dinner complete with dessert and each table enjoyed a bottle of wine and orange juice for the toasts.  Guests of Honour was CND President Mrs Judy Sill,  Foundation President Mrs Pat Croft and Patron Mrs Peg Coleman.  Winners of the bowls for the day were a team from Kootingal.

The lady bowlers from Armidale City had their first trip on the club bus driven by our clever Secretary Marie to attend Kootingal’s day.  Many thanks to our generous CEO Walter who provided a basket of goodies, wine, sweets and fresh sandwiches so we could have a picnic on the banks of the Bendemeer River on the way home.

Social bowls were the order of the day on Friday September 28 and results are:  D O’Connell, E Dougherty, G Holmes defeated I Myhill, J Carey, J Hoenger (who tried out her new bowls);  K Van, D Fuller defeated M Chappell, B Charter:  W Sauer, M South, M Macgregor defeated S Stubbs, N Jemmeson, L Halloran.  Welcome back to the greens again to Lorna Halloran who enjoyed the game.  The monthly members’ draw was a win for Dawn first and Margaret Macgregor second.

Our Spring Blossoms Carnival played over the weekend was a great success with a Sydney team from The Hills taking home the spoils.  A local team of N Jemmeson, K Van and Marge South took out second prize.
