Armidale City Womens Bowling Club Notes

All roads really led to Guyra at the top of the mountain on Tuesday February 25, 2020 confirming the popularity of the Guyra Recreation and Bowling Club with 24 teams entered for the celebration of their President’s day.  Teams came from Kootingal, Inverell, Armidale Ex-Service’s, Armidale City, Tenterfield, Uralla, Bendemeer, Delungra, Guyra, Glen Innes, Bingara and Walcha.  All were welcomed by Guyra’s men’s President Cameron Peabody and Ladies’ President Laurel Betts and invited to the tasty morning tea.   After the cards were read the bowlers filled the two greens and played one game of Triples with 18 ends, which was preceded by a spider.  The warm sunshine made the bowling very pleasant.

After the game the bowlers retired to the dining room and enjoyed a delicious lunch complete with desert and waited for the results.   Winners of the bowls drawn from the cards were a team from Bendemeer led by Gwen Davidson, runners-up were Tess Davis and team from Inverell and a consolation prize went to another Inverell team.  The mystery prize was awarded to Elfie, Pauline and Pam from Ex-Service’s.  Raffle and spider winners,100 club winners all went home happy with wonderful prizes which made their day.  A  special presentation was made to Bertha Reeves for her wonderful and outstanding contribution for more than 42 years to the Guyra Bowling Club and the New England District.
