Armidale City Men’s Bowls

Results from last weekend.  Major Minor Pairs. J Carey and T Fuller defeated P Clarke and G Latham 31 to17.  Mixed Pairs. D Fuller and T Fuller defeated M Macgregor and P Clarke 33 to 8.

The Wednesday evening Chook Run has started, if you are interested in a fun game of social mixed bowls get your name for a 6pm start. $2 per player.

The 2nd Annual Richie Clutterbuck Men’s Open Memorial Pairs will be held on the 16th and 17th November. Total prize money $5600.00. Entry fee $80 per team. Includes sausage sizzle lunch on both days. Entries close 6pm Sunday 10th November.

Armidale City Womens Bowling Club Notes

Social results Tuesday October 22, 2019,  J Carey, E Dougherty, L Halloran defeated L Fullerton, M Hann, N Jemmeson;  M Knight, D Fuller had a draw with J Hoenger, M Coggan.  A big welcome to Margaret Hann who is a new member from Narrabri.

Competition results Friday October 25, 2019, The Major and Minor Queens of the Green were played and D O’Connell defeated M Coggan and J Swanson started the game but was unable to finish and E Dougherty received a forfeit from Jan.  Social results, J Hoenger, D Fuller defeated M Chappell, L Halloran:   L Radlingmayr, M Knight defeated L Fullerton, M South.  It was great to see Lyn Radlingmayr back on the green once again.

The draw for the North versus West annual game between these two destinations is done and teams are:  D O’Connell, M Hann, D Fuller versus M Chappell, J Hoenger, B Charter:  J Carey, M South, M Macgregor versus L Fullerton, E Dougherty. N Jemmeson: I Myhill, L Halloran versus J Swanson, M Coggan.   These games are set down for Friday November 1, 2019.  North holds the Shield so bring along your best game girls.

Congratulations to Enid Dougherty who has been awarded a finalist in the New Bowlers Encouragement Award competition for 2019.  Enid is a worthy applicant to win this award through her willingness and efforts to take on any task that is asked of her.   As well as being a credited Umpire, Enid is the Games Manager for our club and she has also achieved outstanding results in her bowling career, winning the Club Minor Singles Championship and also the Major and Minor Consistency to her credit.  If Enid is selected she will go to Bankstown on 21 November, 2019 to vie with other chosen applicants and she has our full support.  Well done Enid.

Best wishes to the five bowlers from our club who are going to join others who will represent New England, at the Jean McKinnon games to be played at the Gunnedah Bowling Club from Tuesday to Wednesday, October 29-30 October, 2019.  For interested persons, Mrs Jean McKinnon was a former State President and also President of West Tamworth Ladies Bowling Club.  She was the instigator of these games to promote friendly rivalry between the clubs in the New England Region.  Bowlers from our club attending these games are:  D O’Connell, J Hoenger, E Dougherty, M  Knight, N Jemmeson and we wish them good bowling.
