Presidents Singles. B White defeated J Carey 19 to 10. M Carey defeated C Moy 26 to 16. D Moloney defeated G Holmes 19 to 18. R Kembrey defeated M King 19 to 17. Semi Final Major Singles. T Fuller defeated G Graham 31 to 26. Richie Clutterbuck defeated G Latham 31 to 17. Final Minor Singles. K Brodbeck defeated P Wadleigh 31 to 22. Final Minor Pairs. R Kembrey and H Radlingmayr defeated V Ng and C McFayden 27 to 12.
No competition games set down over the June long weekend.
Armidale City Women’s Bowling Club
On Tuesday May 30 the NEDWBA held the Senior Three Bowl Pairs play-offs hosted by the City Club where four teams participated. The Umpire was D Moloney and J Hoenger was the controlling body. The morning winners were B Charter and D Tremayne from Armidale who defeated J Bray and P Westbury from Uralla and J Gossip and M Coggan from Armidale who defeated L Watts and D Tickle from Walcha. The final played that afternoon between the two Armidale teams was a very close game with J Gossip leading very well for her skip and congratulations to Jean and M Coggan for winning the NED Senior Three Bowl Pairs final. One social game was played and J Carey, D O’Connell, D Fuller defeated M King, J Hoenger, G Holmes.
Competition results Friday June 2 the final of the Club Triples was played and congratulations to B Charter, M Knight and D Tremayne who were too strong for J Carey, M King and G Holmes. It was good to see Marie Fergusson back on the green again after a short absence. Social results were: F Bourke, D Fuller defeated M Coggan, D Moloney: I Myhill, M Fergusson defeated M James-Chappell, R Clutterbuck. The monthly members’ draw was a win for Ila first and Judy second and in the 100 club draw, Dot came first, Judy was in the winning circle again coming in second and Fay took out third prize.
The NEDWBA Singles were hosted by the City Club on Saturday June 3 and bowlers had to contend with the very cold weather conditions. The Umpire was L Radlingmayr and the Controlling body was B Reeves. On Sunday June 4 the Singles continued at Ex-Service’s where the semis and final were played. Congratulations to Elfie Brunner who is the NED Singles Champion and commiserations to the runner-up, Kerri Fittler. The final was a cliff-hanger and well done to both ladies for a wonderful game.
Games set down for this week will see the three bowl pairs continue and on Friday June 9 the Patron’s Singles will be drawn. Our Secretary and Treasurer, Marie and Judy are having a week’s break away. Best wishes to our member Lorna who is not well at present.
